Dear SPC Members & Treasured Friends,
Rev. Olivia Lane, Senior Pastor
As I enter my seventh year as Head of Staff at Southminster, I'm keenly aware that I haven't been in the habit of speaking broadly to this church about finances. We have a unique situation here at SPC: people have given quietly and consistently, and we've been able to fill in the gaps of ever-increasing costs with our real estate investments.
Despite significantly decreasing our debt, working through some difficult insurance situations, and addressing long-term deferred maintenance, we are reaching the limits of what quiet giving and real estate income alone can sustain. So this year, I want to say plainly: we need your commitment for the future of this community.
We want the church to be a top priority in how you spend your time, how you share your resources, and how you share your love for God. Every year, that matters. This year, it matters more than most.
Your pledges last year sustained this congregation and made all of our creative, hopeful, and compassionate ministries possible. In the year ahead, much is uncertain, but we do know this: we need commitments, because we need to plan, and we have good and important work to do. We need commitments to support the growth of the church, and because they give us confidence. We need commitments because they remind us we're in this together.
As your pastor, I am asking for your support. Right now, this church is called to preach the good news in word and in deed. Will you help us, through your commitments, do God's work in our corner of the kingdom?
I am so grateful for the body of Christ in Brookside. Thank you for being the church.
